An IEEE-1394 link layer device, the new TSB42AA4 conforms to the Digital Transmission Content Protection Specification (DTCP). It provides content protection for consumer electronics applications, such as DVD players and digital set top boxes, TVs, camcorders, and VHS VCRs.
Representing the first member of the firm's ceLynx family of devices, the part has dual, fully independent and bi-directional high-speed data interfaces (HSDI). Additionally, the device has an 8 KB FIFO memory that can be divided into as many as eight buffers. The IC is completely programmable by the designer.
Available only to DTCP technology licensees, the TSB42AA4 comes in a 128-pin TQFP and sells for $9.50 each/50,000.
