The NET2280 PCI-to-USB 2.0 device controller is a drop-in chip for converting PCI-based systems and interfaces to USB 2.0 without any alteration of pre-existing architectures or software. Features include a 32-bit, 33-Mhz PCI bus master or slave interface, four-channel DMA controller, an analog USB 2.0 transceiver, a serial interface engine, twelve endpoints, 4 KB of bidirectional FIFO memory, 8 KB of program memory, an 8051 CPU, and a 30-Mhz PLL. The controller can be configured to run on any combination of isochronous, interrupt, control and bulk modes. In a 120-pin TQFP, the controller costs $7 each/100K.
