Supporting the company’s SL811HS embedded USB host and peripheral controller, the Linux 2.44 USB host driver allows users to add USB host functionality to a variety of devices, such as cell phones, MP3 players, network appliances and PDAs. The driver supports the Open Host Controller Interface (OHCI) and the Universal Host Controller Interface (UHCI) specifications for USB host controllers. The SL811HS is a memory-mapped device, with the driver allowing the Linux host stack to provide USB host support without realizing that the device is a non-OHCI/UHCI-type host controller.
