The FIN212AC emerges as the market's first serializer/deserializer (SerDes) device designed for CMOS and CCD image sensors found in portable products such as cell phones with built-in cameras. Exploiting the company's proprietary CTL I/O technology, the device serializes up to 12 bits at speeds to 40 MHz. It is configurable as a serializer or deserializer and is implemented in pairs. Other features include selectable LVCMOS edge rates and pulse width, a 0.1-µA power-down mode when not transmitting, and a choice of BGA and MLP packages that can be mounted on a PCB or directly on the flex. Both packages are lead free and meet or exceed the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020C. Prices are $1.49 (BGA) and $1.30 (MLP) each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, San Jose, CA.
