Two USB controllers target serial- and parallel-port connectivity. The USB-to-serial and USB-to-parallel controllers meet the need for connection between USB and standard legacy ports without reconfiguration of the PC. The USB-to-serial controller offers instant plug-and-play configuration and consists of a 16-bit, 48-MHz RISC CPU, serial interface engine, and USB 1.0-compliant transceiver. It has four on-chip serial interfaces and supports 230-kbps data rates. The USB-to-parallel controller is also configured for instant plug-and-play and consists of the same internal elements.
