Expanding the DS3/E3/STS-1 LIU interface-transceiver family, three multi-channel devices have been added that operate at 34 Mb/s (DS3), 45 Mb/s (E3), and 51 Mb/s (STS-1). The 78P7202L dual-port, 78P7203L triple-port, and 78P7204L quad-port interface

Expanding the DS3/E3/STS-1 LIU interface-transceiver family, three multi-channel devices have been added that operate at 34 Mb/s (DS3), 45 Mb/s (E3), and 51 Mb/s (STS-1). The 78P7202L dual-port, 78P7203L triple-port, and 78P7204L quad-port interface transceivers offer a typical per-port power dissipation of 300 mW at 3.3V. Each channel can be individually powered down to reduce power in redundant applications. The new devices feature an input receiver multiplexer, said to replace external switches. Other features include clock recovery and transmitter pulse-shaping functions on each channel and compliance with ANSI and ITU specifications. The 78P7202L in an 80-lead TQFP costs $52 and the 720L and 7204 come in 128-lead TQFPs and cost $68 and $85, respectively, each/10,000. TDK SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Tustin, CA. (714) 508-8800.
