Deemed a market first, the fifth-generation BlueCore Class 1 Bluetooth IC qualifies to the v2.0+EDR specification and is also the first product on the company's BlueMedia roadmap integrating a FM radio receiver. Available in 4 mm x 4 mm WLCSP or 6 mm x 6 mm VFBGA packages, the BlueCore5-FM delivers data rates up to 3 Mb/s and an output power of +10 dBm. This allows the device to cover the 100m range required for a Class 1 Bluetooth radio without the need for an external amplifier. The FM receiver operates at a thermal noise floor of -111 dBm and is interference free and independent of the Bluetooth radio, i.e., streaming FM radio from a handset over a Bluetooth connection to a pair of stereo headphones.CSR, Auburn Hills, MI.
