SARA, a new line of low-power GSM/GPRS modules from u-blox, target M2M applications requiring dual or quad-band GSM/GPRS, voice and/or data, optional Internet suite, and in-band modem support for eCall and ERA GLONASS emergency calls. The modules are ideally suited for M2M and automotive applications such as Automatic Meter Reading, Remote Monitoring Automation and Control, surveillance and security, road pricing, asset tracking, fleet management, anti-theft systems and PoS terminals. The SARA LGA form factor enables compact designs and simplified integration, and supports simple migration to the company's LISA UMTS and CDMA modules via PCB layout compatibility. Support for A-GPS and the company's CellLocate positioning technology is embedded to facilitate advanced telematics applications including indoor positioning. SARA modules are fully qualified according to ISO 16750 and are packaged in a compact 16 x 26 mm LGA module. The first of the series, the SARA-G350, will sample in Q4 2012, with production in Q1 2013.
