The LSM303DLM next generation geo-magnetic module promises to cut current consumption down by 50% while hoisting magnetic sensing resolution up by 30%. The ultra-low-power device addresses advanced navigation and location-based services in portable consumer applications via high-resolution three-axis sensing of linear and magnetic motion in a 5 mm x 5 mm x 1 mm package. Other features include 6D orientation detection, two programmable interrupt signals, wake-up/power-down functionality, an operating power consumption of 360 mA, and full-scale ranges of ±2g/±4g/±8g (linear acceleration) and from ±1.3 up to ±8 Gauss. Price for the LSM303DLM is $1.95 each/100,000. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
