Offered for free at the company's website, the Rhapsody Modeler Edition is said to offer the same features and functionality available on other, fairly expensive model-based design systems. The application is said to allow developers to analyze, design, document and generate code frames for their applications in the Unified Modeling Language (UML). Some key features include UML modeling with object-model diagrams, code frame generation for C, C++ and Java, model import from Rational Rose, and integration with third-party requirements, traceability and configuration-management products. Designs generated with the free edition of this application will be compatible, upon upgrade, with the company's other versions of the Rhapsody product family including Developer, Validator and Solo.
