Adding to the GreenChip line of power devices, the TEA1532 off-line flyback control IC features multiple modes of operation and promises low power consumption. Claimed as unique, the controller combines both QR and CCM modes of operation into a single chip with a SO8 and DIP8 footprint. It provides true valley switching during QR mode operation to improve EMI performance. Other features include a protection pin, brown-out protection and slope compensation, over-temperature and over-voltage protection, demagnetization detection, reduced power frequency during standby (less than 3W), maximum switching frequency of 63 kHz, and cycle skipping for low standby power levels. Additionally, an integrated high-voltage, start-up current source provides current when needed and switches off during normal operation. Price is $0.50 each/10,000.
