An engineered solution to industrial speed and position control applications for hazardous environments is available with the Intrinsic Safety Barrier. Designed to complement the company’s UL, cUL and CENELEC rated encoders, the barrier is galvanically isolated, eliminating the need for an earth ground. It also combines both power and signal barriers into a single package instead of the three or more separate packages that were needed in the past. Output options, including differential line drivers, make the barriers directly compatible with the majority of counters, controllers and PLCs. The DIN-rail-mountable barrier is rated as non-incendive and can be installed in a Class 1, Division 2 area. The requirements of Class 1, Division 1, Group C and D installations (Eex ia llB T4 CENELEC) can be met when used with properly rated encoders.
