Described as the market's smallest, the 9Xtend 900-MHz radio module delivers a selectable power output from 1 mW to 1 W conducted, radiated power output to 4W, and provides 256-bit data encryption. The module pairs the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with a 256-bit key, said to yield the highest encryption standard available. Other features include a power consumption of 780 mA while operating on 5V, -110 dBm receiver sensitivity, and operating distances up to 0.5 miles in urban environments, 15 miles line-of-sight, and 40 miles with high-gain antennas. The module also includes an adjustable over-the-air data rate. Set for the highest throughput, data rates are up to 120 kb/s with a receiver sensitivity of -103 dBm. When set for the longest possible range, data rates are up to 10 kb/s with a sensitivity of -110 dBm. Users can also set interface data rates from 1.2 kb/s to 230 kb/s. MAXSTREAM INC., Lindon, UT.
