A single-channel, 3.6-Gsample/s analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and single-channel, 5.6-Gsample/s digital-to-analog converter (DAC), merged with the latest FPGA technology onto an analog I/O card, brings advanced digital-signal-processing (DSP) capabilities to PCI Express (PCIe). The PC760 card, developed by 4DSP, features Xilinx’s Kintex-7 FPGAs (the XC7K160T, XC7K325T, and XC7K410T). Scalable systems can be built with the card—for example, multiple PC760s in a 16-slot PCIe chassis can offer 16 channels of 3.6-Gsample/s analog-to-digital and 5.6-Gsample/s digital-to-analog throughput. Each chassis can become a node in a much larger system, providing scalability. Features include single-ended, ac-coupled analog input and output signals, PCIe Gen2 x8/4-lane and PCIe Gen3 x4 (softcore), and Micro SD flash (32 Gbytes). SPI communication buses deliver clock source and sampling frequency. The card will find homes in applications ranging from software-defined radio to baseband communication transceivers.
