The rugged VPX6-218 6U XMC carrier card makes it possible to quickly and easily add up to two XMC (VITA 42.3) mezzanine module cards to OpenVPX-based embedded systems. Curtiss-Wright Corp. Defense Solutions’ card supports eight lanes of PCI Express (PCIe) Gen 2, providing the flexibility to expand system architectures with the exact I/O to meet application requirements. A high-speed, low-latency PCIe interface communicates with the host processor over the VPX backplane. Specifically, the VPX6-218 can host two 25-W XMCs, and supports the latest high-performance mezzanine modules like the company’s XF07 FPGA XMC. Applications include those in harsh defense and aerospace environments, such as ground combat vehicle, and manned and unmanned airborne platforms. The VPX6-218, available in conduction-cooled versions, complies with VITA 46.8-in. pitch standards.
