Haptic + Bluetooth Kit Enables Tactile Feedback Prototyping To Go

Wireless haptic development kit utilizes BLE and a free iOS app to enable designers to create haptic sequences and LED patterns for tactile feedback, notifications and alerts.

The Haptic Bluetooth Kit (DRV2605EVM-BT) from TI, an industry first wireless haptic development kit, provides system designers with a new, convenient way to prototype ERM motor and LRA haptic effects. Utilizing Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and a free iOS app, the development kit enables designers to create haptic sequences and LED patterns for tactile feedback, notifications and alerts from a pre-licensed library of more than a hundred distinct haptic effects, eliminating wires and the need to design haptic waveforms. Users can select and test haptic effects from the Immersion-licensed library for touch-enabled applications, from wearables and portable medical equipment to HMI panels and augmented reality. The kit features the DRV2605 haptic driver for ERM/LRA and a SimpleLink BLE CC2541 wireless MCU. The Haptic Feedback with BLE and iOS App Reference Design (TIDA-00266) enables designers to add haptic technology to space-constrained, low-power wireless systems, such as touch remote controls, smart watches and portable insulin pumps. The reference design includes schematic design and layout files, test results, sample code and complete user documentation, as well as a CAD file for a wrist-worn form factor. The DRV2605EVM Haptic Bluetooth Kit is available now for $99.
