The MAX17062 and MAX17067 single-channel, step-up dc/dc converters with an integrated FET exploit the company's proprietary BiCMOS process to provide high current density, increased voltage capacity, and better efficiency for LCD applications. Both employ current-mode, fixed-frequency, and PWM circuitry with an n-channel power MOSFET that generates output voltages up to 20V from an input of 2.6V to 5.5V. The MAX17067 also packs an input-clamping circuit to protect its control circuitry from input-voltage transients. With an external resistor, the device's internal clamping circuit reduces current to the input during a transient condition. The MAX17062 is available in a 10-pin, 3 mm x 3 mm x 0.8 mm TDFN and the MAX17067 comes in an eight-pin microMAX package. Prices start at $2.94 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA.
