Atmel Corp.'s 8-bit RISC Flash microcontroller is the first to be qualified for operation up to +150°C.

According to Atmel Corp., its 8-bit RISC Flash microcontroller is the first to be qualified for operation up to +150°C (AECQ100 Grade 0). Already available in the -40 to +125°C operating temperature range, the ATmega88 AVR microcontroller can now withstand automotive temperature extremes.

As a result, designers are able to distribute intelligence and control functions directly into gearboxes, engine sensors and actuators, transfer cases, turbochargers. This will ultimately simplify the wiring network.
