The combination of low quiescent current (less than 340 µA with both LDOs on a 100 mA load current) and low dropout make the LP2966 dual high-current micropower low-dropout regulator suitable for portable equipment such as pagers, cellular phones and GPS receivers. The IC is well-suited for circuits requiring up to 150 mA from each output. The device operates with a dropout voltage of only 135 mV at 150-mA load current, enabling system designers to connect the device directly to the battery and eliminate the need for costly buck/boost converters, it's claimed. Output voltage accuracy is ±1% at room temperature. The LP2966IMM is offered in an 8-lead MSOP package.
