Specifically designed for the peripheral cards market, including PCI, CompactPCI, PCMCIA and various network interface cards, the CMPWR-100 is a fully integrated dual-supply power management IC. Unlike other products that require an external switch, the IC integrates the regulator, switch and controller in a single 8-pin SOIC that needs no additional components. On the chip are all the functions required to deliver 200 mA of output from either an on-chip, 5V-to-3.3V LDO regulator or from a 3.3V auxiliary supply using an internal switch. The chip continuously monitors the main supply and automatically provides a smooth transition from the 3.3V LDO regulator to a low-impedance switch, delivering an uninterrupted supply voltage to the application circuit. Samples are available now.
