15 V Buck-Boost Converter Delivers 200 mA Continuous Output

March 21, 2013
Synchronous buck-boost dc/dc converter delivers up to 200 mA of continuous output current from single or multiple-cell batteries, solar panels and supercaps.

Linear Technology’s LTC3129 is a synchronous buck-boost dc/dc converter that delivers up to 200 mA of continuous output current from a variety of input sources including single or multiple-cell batteries, solar panels and supercaps. A 2.42 V to 15 V input range and 1.4 V to 15.75 V output range provide regulated output with inputs above, below or equal to the output. Low noise buck-boost topology provides continuous transition through all of the operating modes, making it useful in applications that must maintain a constant output voltage. Programmable MPPC capability ensures maximum power extraction, and user selectable Burst Mode operation lowers quiescent current to 1.3 µA, improving light load efficiency and suiting the device for always on and energy harvesting. The LTC3129-1 offers eight fixed user-programmable output voltages from 2.5 V to 15 V, eliminating the resistor divider required on the adjustable version. The LTC3129EUD and EUD-1 are available in 16-lead 3 x 3 mm QFN packages, and the LTC3129EMSE and EMSE-1 are offered in thermally enhanced 16-lead MSOPs. Both versions are available from stock with pricing starting at $2.95 each/1,000.
