17 V Synchronous Step-Down Regulators Deliver 1 A

April 18, 2013
Synchronous buck regulators deliver up to 1 A of continuous output current to outputs as low as 0.6 V.

Linear Technology’s LTC3621 synchronous buck regulators deliver up to 1 A of continuous output current to outputs as low as 0.6 V. Two versions are offered, the LTC3621 switching at a fixed 1 MHz frequency, and the LTC3621-2 switching at 2.25 MHz. Synchronous rectification boosts efficiencies to as high as 95%, while Burst Mode requires only 3.5 µA of no load quiescent current. Constant frequency, current-mode architecture minimizes switching noise while offering fast line and load transient response. Operating from an input range of 2.7 V to 17 V, the devices are suited for single or dual cell Li-Ion applications as well as 12 V intermediate bus and automotive systems. The LTC3621 and LTC3621-2 are each available in a 2 x 3 mm DFN-6 and an 8-lead, thermally enhanced MSOP. Pricing for both package and frequency options starts at $2.55 each/1,000. Industrial grade versions, guaranteed to operate over the -40°C to 125°C operating junction temperature range, are also available at $2.81 each/1,000.
