Brandishing a 20-MHz-to-2-GHz bandwidth, the LTC6431-20 single-ended input and output fixed-gain amplifier delivers 46.2 dBm output third-order intercept (OIP3) and 2.6-dB noise figure.

Brandishing a 20-MHz-to-2-GHz bandwidth, the LTC6431-20 single-ended input and output fixed-gain amplifier delivers 46.2 dBm output third-order intercept (OIP3) and 2.6-dB noise figure. It also features an output 1dB compression point (OP1dB) of 22 dBm. Linear Tech offers two grades: the 100% tested A-grade with a minimum of 42.2 dBm OIP3 at 240 MHz, and the B-grade with a typical OIP3 of 45.7 dBm at the same frequency. Both the input and output are internally 50-Ω matched from 20 MHz to 1.4 GHz, with a frequency response of 20-dB power gain and a flatness exceeding 0.5 dB. The amplifier, fabricated using an advanced SiGe biCMOS process for increased stability, is powered from a single 5-V supply at 93-mA supply current. Packaged in a 4- by 4-mm QFN, the LTC5431-20’s case operating temperature ranges from ‒40 to 85°C. The device will find homes in low-distortion transmitters or receivers, at frequencies up to 1.5 GHz, that need IF and RF signal amplification. Other applications include digital predistortion receivers, and broadband and narrowband radio that operate in the VHF/UHF bands.
