Sporting two channels, the AOZ1331, the newest member of Alpha and Omega Semiconductor’s EZPower Smart Load switch family, provides 6 A per channel of continuous current. Its 20-mW on-resistance in a thermally enhanced 3- by 2-mm DFN package provides the RDS(ON)-to-footprint ratio needed in space-constrained applications, such as notebook PCs, Ultrabooks, set-top boxes, solid-state drives, LCD TVs, and others. Two n-channel MOSFETs feature an input operating voltage range of 0.8 to 5.5 V, and input bias voltage range of 2.5 to 5 V. A low-voltage logic control signal independently controls each load switch. The device can switch the 6 A of continuous current with a turn-on slew rate that’s can be programmed by an optional external capacitor. An internal 220-Ω resistor, integrated into each channel, allows for quick discharging of capacitive output loads.
