Synchronous rectification generated by Linear Technology’s LT8620 65-V, input-capable step-down switching regulator delivers efficiency up to 95%, while burst-mode operation keeps quiescent current under 2.5 µA in no-load standby conditions (and output ripple below 10 mV p-p). Its internal high-efficiency switches deliver up to 2 A of continuous output current to voltages down to 0.97 V. Input voltage ranges from 3.4 to 65 V, suiting it for automotive (single and dual battery) and industrial applications. Minimum dropout voltage is 250 mV at 1 A under all conditions, which makes it a good fit in automotive cold-crank. Its 30-ns on-time enables 2-MHz constant frequency switching from a 16-V input to a 1.5-V output. Incorporating a current-mode topology accelerates transient response and boosts loop stability. Other features include internal compensation, power-good flag, output soft-start/tracking, and thermal protection. Packaging options include a 24-lead, 3- by 5-mm QFN or thermally enhanced MSOP-16E.
