The DRV10983 from Texas Instruments is a 24-V, sinusoidal, sensor-less, brushless DC (BLDC) motor driver. The 3-A driver with integrated control logic enables the ability to quickly tune motors for reliable start-up and optimal performance. 180-deg. sinusoidal, sensor-less technology allows for the driver to perform 75% quieter than typical solutions—pure tone harmonics are reduced by as much as 25 dBA. To reduce design complexity and increase reliability, the DRV10983 features a full suite of protection including anti-voltage surge (AVS) over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, shoot-through, under-voltage lock-out, and advanced five-stage rotor lock protection. The single-chip solution comes integrated with power FETs and optional 100-mA, 3.3- or 5-V step-down converters to reduce board space.
