Murata announced the addition of a 1300 Watt model to their D1U3CS series of front-end AC-DC power supplies from Murata Power Solutions. The D1U3CS 1300 series can deliver 1,300 Watts from the wide 108 to 264 VAC universal input, is hot pluggable, has no minimum load requirement, and incorporates low-loss integral O-Ring Field Effect Transistors (FETs) on its main 12 V output, for fault-tolerant and N+1 redundant applications. With a power density of 23 Watts per cubic inch, the power supply can achieve a high typical conversion efficiency of 92% at half full load.
The D1U3CS-W-1300F has a primary 12 VDC output and an optional auxiliary output of either 3.3 VDC, or 5.0 VDC for powering standby circuitry. Active power factor correction is used to minimize input harmonic current distortion and ensure compliance with the IEC61000-3-2 standard, with a power factor of 0.99 typical. It accepts the universally available IEC C14 AC input power connector.
Digitally programmable, both models are equipped with an I²C interface and support the industry-standard PMBus(tm) communications protocol. Both also contain a memory device (EEPROM) that is pre-programmed with data about the unit.
With active single-wire current sharing, multiple supplies can be easily paralleled for very high current applications. The supplies incorporate fan cooling with automatic speed control and have an ambient operating temperature range of 0 to +50°C. It is comprehensively protected against overload and overvoltage conditions and delivers a mean time between failures (MTBF) of more than 500,000 hours. The power supply meets the rigorous EN55022-B and FCC part 15 Class B conducted and radiated emissions standards, and holds a full complement of international safety certifications including CE Mark, CSA, and TUV.
Typical applications for the D1U3CS series include systems using distributed power architectures, such as computing, storage, networking, data center, and test and measurement systems.
The Murata Power Solutions D1U3CS-W-1300F is available at the competitive price of $246 per unit in production quantities. Standard lead time is 12 weeks. Sample quantities are available now.
