ABSOPULSE Electronics released the RSI 300-IP66 series of railway grade dc-ac sine wave inverters.

ABSOPULSE Electronics released the RSI 300-IP66 series of railway grade dc-ac sine wave inverters. The units are packaged in IP66 watertight, dust-proof, diecast aluminum enclosures and are immune to the effects of humidity, fog, sand, salt, oil and insects. The internal module is ruggedized and the boards are conformal coated for protection from shock and vibration. The inverters comply with EN50155 railway standards and meet the requirements of EN55022 Class B and EN50121-3-2 conducted and radiated standards. The series is also suitable for operation in heavy industry, military, mining, marine and other severe environments.

Cooling is by conduction and convection via the walls of the IP66 enclosure. Minimum operating temperature range is -25 °C to +50 °C without derating. Extended temperature ranges are available on request. The chassis measures 360 x 160 x 90 mm (14.1" x 6.3" x 3.5") and weighs approximately 4.6 kg (10 lb).

These 300 VA microprocessor-controlled high frequency PWM inverters deliver 115 Vac or 230 Vac continuous at the frequency required. They accept nominal inputs of 48, 72, 96, or 110 Vdc with wide ranges.  Line/load regulation is ±3% from no load to full load. Efficiency is typically 80% at full load. Electronic protection includes 3000Vdc input-output isolation, inrush current limiting, reverse polarity protection, output current limiting with short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown with automatic recovery in case of insufficient cooling.
