Delivering output currents from 6A to 50A, the latest additions to the PTH family of point-of-load (POL) converters boast of ultra-fast transient response rates and the ability to eliminate output capacitors. The modules specify a 1.5% output-voltage regulation and accept input voltages from 4.5V to 14V, delivering adjustable output voltages down to 0.7V. In addition to TurboTrans technology, the recent modules incorporate a SmartSync function that allows users to synchronize switching frequencies of multiple POL devices to maximize power efficiency and minimize EMI. SmartSync also allows the modules to synchronize at different phase angles using external circuits to balance source loading and minimize input capacitance. Pricing for the modules starts at $7.90 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
