Quarter-Brick DC-DC Converters Feature Extended DC Input Range

Feb. 7, 2014

The PH-A280 series of quarter-brick dc-dc power modules developed by TDK Corp. operate from a dc input voltage range of 200 to 425 V dc. Models come in four output levels: 50, 75, 100, and 150 W. Nominal output voltages are 5, 12, 24, or 48 V dc, adjustable by −20% to +10% (±20% for 5-V output models). They achieve efficiencies of up to 90%, a 5% boost over the previous series. All modules operate at full load over a baseplate temperature range of −40 to +100°C, suiting them for liquid, air-cooled, or conduction-cooled systems. Standard features include remote sense, remote on/off, and overvoltage and overcurrent protection. Input-to-output isolation is 3 kV ac. The power modules will find homes in high-voltage dc current (HVDC) and solar-cell applications in industrial smart-city, test-and-measurement, and plant-related equipment.
