IXYS announced the expansion of its standard rectifier module portfolio for diode phase-legs in the Y4 package (34mm) outline. The Y4 (34mm) package is an IXYS DCB based module with the highest performance in thermal behavior and power density. A wide range of controlled and uncontrolled rectifiers for one and three phase applications are already provided by IXYS in that housing class.
This latest addition to the portfolio of diode phase-legs in a Y4 (34mm) package outline offers a drastic improvement in current density. Until now the most powerful diode phase-leg offered in a 34mm package type provides a permanent current of 224 Amps at a case temperature of 100 degrees C. With the new IXYS 34mm modules, this value increases by 25% to 280 Amps. This results in the highest power density in the package range of 34mm housings available in the market and can be used as an alternative to several diode phase-leg types in the next bigger package class, the Y1 (50mm). On request all types can be delivered in a wide breakdown voltage range from 1200 up to 2200V.
