Smart PMIC

Anagear's ANG1002 Extreme  smart power management IC (PMIC) reduces current consumption for Wireless Sensor Nodes (WSNs) to 250 nA in standby mode. The ANG1002 reportedly offers better than three times energy efficiency saving over conventional battery-powered WSNs.

Anagear has added the ANG1002 Extreme to its smart power management IC (PMIC) family. The low power device reduces current consumption for Wireless Sensor Nodes (WSNs) to a mere 250 nA in standby mode. The ANG1002 offers a better than three times energy efficiency saving than conventional battery-powered WSNs based on today's ultra-low power components, helping power the Internet of Things (IoT) revolution.

Anagear's PMICs open up a new approach to node design that delivers energy savings without compromising the customer's microcontroller preference. As the PMIC handles duty cycle timing and is capable of completely cutting off the power to the other system components, it is the only device to draw current when the node is in standby mode. The PMIC also reduces the node's power consumption in active mode through highly efficient voltage conversion and programmable output voltage scaling. And being smart enough to handle simple data processing, means only the PMIC needs to wake up for every measurement.

The ANG1002 Extreme takes Anagear's power consumption approach to a record low, enabling WSNs to operate for many years on a single lithium button-cell. Key to this ultra-low power usage is the on-chip silicon oscillator. This low-frequency oscillator delivers a significant boost to energy efficiency yet offers sufficient duty cycle timing accuracy for many of the extraordinarily small and in some cases unseen sensor nodes at the heart of the IoT.

Among the other functionality of the ANG1002 Extreme is its unique chip-ID number that can be used to generate a node-ID in a mesh network topology, enhance security in wireless applications and support RTLS (Real Time Location Sensing) applications. The ANG1002 also offers autonomous monitoring of system critical parameters and remaining energy levels. In addition the deep sleep mode ensures batteries are not drained during the time a product sits on the shelf.

The ANG1002 is available for ordering and unit pricing starts at € 1.95 for 1k quantities.
