BEAR Power Supplies has received a contract from Velocite Systems to design and produce a custom, 1U high dc-dc power converter for telecom test equipment.
BEAR Power Supplies has received a contract from Velocite Systems to design and produce a custom, 1U high dc-dc power converter for telecom test equipment. The 370-W power supply will feature high efficiency, a 48-V input, and four different output voltages. The Velocite equipment incorporating the custom power supply has been certified to meet NEBS standards for use in telecom switching offices.
“We chose BEAR for their in-house custom expertise and their reputation for delivering rugged power supplies with wide operating temperatures,” said Bob Cook, president of Velocite Systems. “They surprised us by also creating a unique mechanical design that will let us remove other hardware costs from our system. Working with BEAR’s USA-based design and manufacturing team is a plus: They anticipated our needs, made excellent design recommendations, and provided fast turn-around.”
The BEAR custom power supply will be enclosed and cooled with a single fan. It replaces a power supply from a different vendor that is less efficient and requires two large cooling fans.
