Aeroflex Announces Test System for Analog In-circuit and Functional Test
November 23, 2012. Aeroflex Ltd. announced that it now offers its 5800 Series multi-functional test system with a Virginia Panel interface, an industry-standard interface used by test fixture manufacturers.
Aeroflex's 5860 Multi-Strategy Test System combines analog in-circuit test (ICT) and functional test capabilities in a compact, floor-standing system. This is Aeroflex's first ATE product incorporating a Virginia Panel interface. The 5860 allows seamless integration of third-party PXI instruments in a single test system for fast and configurable in-circuit test, functional test, and device programming. The 5860 is SMEMA (Surface Mount Equipment Manufacturers Association) compliant and is self-contained in a small footprint of just 900 mm (D) x 600 mm (W), facilitating low-cost, in-line fixture solutions.
“In the fast-moving electronics industry, anyone involved in the assembly and test of electronic products will need a future-proof test system. Many customers prefer a combined platform that allows both in-circuit test and functional test to give them flexibility to meet their current and future test needs. The 5860 provides a key building block for their test strategy,” said Kevin Tomkins, ATE product manager, Aeroflex.
The 5800 Series is a multi-configuration/multi-functional test system designed to meet the ever-changing needs of the electronic manufacturing environment. The 5800 Series features open hardware and software to provide maximum flexibility. The open software architecture enables integration with any platform that is .NET compliant.
The open hardware architecture allows configurable chassis and interface styles from low-cost analog in-circuit testing to high-integrity analog and digital functional test systems. The integrated 21-slot PXI based backplane enables the user to build test systems based on Aeroflex PXI instruments or any other PXI instrument supplier. The 5800 Series comes in three body styles: floor-standing (5860), benchtop (5820), and rack-mount (5830). Each body style has a common core of 21-slot rack, power, and utility cards.
