Newark element14 offers EMC evaluation board
April 3, 2013. Analog Devices Inc and Bourns Inc have co-developed an externally certified EMC-compliant interface design tool for RS-485 circuits to protect against electromagnetic compatibility events in industrial and instrumentation equipment. The tool is now available for same-day shipping from electronics distributor Newark element14.
The $87.50 cost-efficient board enables engineers to test circuits at the beginning of the design cycle and offers three different protection circuits for evaluation in accordance with three standards: IEC 61000-4-2, electrostatic discharge (ESD) immunity test; IEC 61000-4-4, electrical fast transient (EFT)/burst immunity test; and IEC 61000-4-5, surge immunity test.
Device drivers, integration files and evaluation hardware are included with the board to help engineers reduce design risks in industrial applications such as those involving motor controls, grid-tie inverters, and programmable-logic controllers.
A webinar from ADI and Bourns, “Safeguarding RS-485 Communication Networks from Harmful EMC Events,” can be downloaded at Newark’s element14 engineering community.
