Pickering Interfaces Introduces PXI Matrices

April 19, 2013. Pickering Interfaces is expanding its range of 2-A BRIC matrices with the introduction of the 40-568. The company announced it is also expanding its range of 2-A PXI matrices with the introduction of the 40-575, 40-576, 40-577, 40-578, and 40-579 PXI products.

The 40-568 is a high-density multislot BRIC occupying two, four, or eight slots of a PXI chassis and provides a range of one-pole matrix solutions from 75 x 4 to 600  x 4, substantially increasing the density of 2-A matrices compared to competing solutions.

The product range uses electromechanical relays to achieve their 2-A switch rating and 60-W power capability to voltages up to 100 VDC, 70 VAC.

Pickering Interfaces' BRIC structure allows the creation of large matrices in PXI over multiple slots without the use of expensive external cables. The fully integrated programming interface represents the matrix as a single entity, easing user programming and reducing the likelihood of user errors.

User connections are through industry standard 78-way D type connectors that are fully supported by Pickering Interfaces range of interconnection products.

The BRIC switching range was first introduced in 2002 and now includes many multislot PXI solutions using reed, solid state, and electro-mechanical relays to suit a wide variety of switching applications.

The Pickering Interfaces 40-575, 40-576, 40-577, 40-578, and 40-579 2-A matrices increase the density of electro-mechanical relay matrices by up to 75% compared to Pickering Interfaces previous products.

The 40-575, 40-576, 40-577, 40-578, and 40-579 are all single-slot one-pole PXI matrices with 2-A current rating, up to 60-W hot-switch power and 150-VDC/100-VAC voltage rating. Models offer matrix sizes of 84 x 4, 64 x 6, 50 x 8, 36 x 12 and 28 x 16 (448 matrix crosspoints). Matrix sizes have been introduced at y-axis sizes of 6 and 12 to compliment the usual 4, 8, and 16 sizes, giving users further choice of y-axis size and maximizing the x-axis size for each configuration.

The switching matrices can be easily expanded by linking the y-axis connections together to create matrices with a larger configuration across more than one PXI slot. User connections are provided by industry standard 160-pin DIN41612 (40-575), 78-way D type (40-576 and 40-577) and 50-way D type connectors (40-578 and 40-579) and are supported by the comprehensive range of connection solutions available from Pickering Interfaces.

A range of half density solutions is also being introduced to suit cost sensitive applications that require matrices of smaller size. The 40-505, 40-506, 40-507, 40-508, and 40-509 have the same y-axis size as 40-575 series but with half the X axis size. The product range uses electromechanical relays to achieve their 2-A switch rating.
