Saelig Offers Bench-top Supplies and Frequency Counters

May 13, 2013. Saelig is now offering the QPX1200SP 1.2-kW DC bench-top power supply featuring PowerFlex regulation, designed to meet the need for flexibility in the choice of voltage and current. The company also introduced a 6-GHz bench/portable frequency counter.

The supply offers voltage and current combinations for a range of applications between 60 V/20 A and 20 V/50 A. The QPX1200SP includes a linear output stage within its PowerFlex regulator, which gives it low output noise of less than 3 mV rms and a transient recovery time typically ten times better than conventional switch mode units.

The QPX1200SP is fully digitally controlled using instrumentation-quality 16-bit DACs. Front-panel adjustment is by numeric keypad or spin wheel, and remote control interfaces of analog, RS-232, USB and LAN (Ethernet) are included as standard. The LAN interface conforms the LXI standard, with a GPIB interface available as an option.

Unlike most higher-power laboratory PSUs, the QPX1200SP is equally suited to bench or rack-mount applications since output and sense terminals are provided on both the front and the rear panels. Up to 10 power set-ups can be saved and recalled via the keyboard or remote interfaces. The built-in power limiter features overvoltage, overcurrent, and temperature trips.

A dot-matrix backlit LCD provides a 5-digit voltage as well as a 4-digit current display, as well as indicating limit values, memory contents, and a wide range alphanumeric messages. Limits settings can be displayed simultaneously with measurements.

The QPX1200SP operates on 110 to 240 VAC ±10%, 50/60-Hz input and features convection cooling design. Weighing 20 lbs., its 3U case is 13.8″ x 5.1″ x 16.3″ (WxHxD).

Made by Aim-TTi, a European test equipment manufacturer, the QPX1200SP is available now at $1,700.00 from Saelig Company Inc.

Saelig has also introduced the TF960 6-GHz bench/portable frequency counter. It features a temperature compensated internal frequency reference (TCXO), which has a low ageing rate and is stable to within ±1 ppm over the full temperature range. Its short warm-up time allows accurate measurements to be made even under portable-battery powered-conditions. An external reference input is provided, and changeover from the internal time-base is automatic when an external reference standard is connected. The TF960 counter-timer can measure and count with high sensitivity between 0.001 Hz and 6,000 MHz, and it incorporates a USB control interface, which facilitates control and data transfer.

The TF960 can measure frequency, period, pulse width, duty cycle, and frequency ratio, and it can perform event counting/totalizing. For frequency, period, and ratio functions, the TF960 uses a reciprocal counting technique to provide high resolution at all frequencies with up to 10-digit accuracy.

The TF960 operates from internal rechargeable NiMH batteries which give typically 24 hours operating life. The universal AC charger supplied recharges the batteries in less than four hours and can also provide continuous AC operation. The instrument can also be powered from a standard USB port.

The TF960 measures 10.3″ x 3.5″ x 9.3″ mm and weighs less than 2 lbs. The high contrast display has ten 0.5″ high digits.
