AOI System Doubles Inspection Speed

January 24, 2014. GOEPEL electronic announced it has succeeded in increasing inspection speed in its high-end OptiCon TurboLine AOI system. Innovative solutions for optimizing image-capturing technology and test-program execution enable an inspection time reduction of up to 50% for heavy utilization of angled-view inspection.

This significant performance increase is already implemented in customer production processes. The OptiCon TurboLine AOI system‘s usage—particularly for assemblies designed for automotive applications—provides an efficiency benefit at the highest inspection coverage.

The software package OptiCon PILOT executes test-program generation and assembly inspection tasks. For efficient system utilization, repair-station software, statistical fault evaluation, and offline programming software are available. Flexible data interfaces provide the opportunity to communicate with external MES and quality-management systems.

The OptiCon TurboLine is an inline AOI system, efficiently utilized for high-quality assemblies and high-volume production. The OptiCon TurboLine AOI system’s special features include double-sided inspection as well as various camera and illumination configurations.

It is possible to inspect the PCB bottom side without assembly flipping. This is a decisive advantage over common AOI systems as inline speed is optimized. The rotatable angled-view platform and the segmented band module also support faster inspection.
