Rigol Adds Oscilloscopes, Waveform Generators
February 6, 2014. Rigol Technologies Inc. has expanded its product portfolio with a new DS2000A Series digital oscilloscopes and the DG1000Z family of low-frequency, high-signal-fidelity waveform generators.
The DS2000A Series scopes feature Rigol's UltraVision technology and offer high sample rate, long record length, wide vertical range, low noise floor, and low pricing.
The DS2000A scopes offer bandwidths up to 300 MHz and are available with an integrated full-function 25-MHz, 2-channel generator, saving equipment costs and bench space by reducing the need for an additional instrument. The 2-channel DS2000A provides a 2-GS/s maximum sample rate and 14-Mpoint record length (56 Mpoints optional) to help users find elusive problems in complex digital streams by facilitating long acquisitions at high sample rates with fine resolution and signal detail.
Rigol's new scope provides a wide vertical range of 500 µV/div to 10 V/div and a low noise floor for better signal fidelity and capture on smaller swing signals. In addition, a waveform capture rate of up to 50,000 waveforms/s minimizes scope “dead time” between trigger events and increases observations of random and sporadic events. Serial triggering and analysis options help speed analysis and debug of 12C, RS-232, SPI, and CAN designs.
“By increasing the bandwidth, adding a full function generator and CAN bus triggering to our well received 2000 Series scopes, Rigol has addressed an industry need,” stated Chris Armstrong, general manager. “The uncompromised performance of the DS2000A and 20 to 35% price advantage versus competitive models will really help our customers lower their overall cost of test.”
Model DS2072A (70 MHz) is priced at $839, which provides customers with a 35% price advantage versus comparative models, the company reported. Completing this scope family are the DS2102A (100 MHz), DS2202A (200 MHz), and DS2302A (300 MHz), with all units offering the integrated generator option by adding a -S to the model number.
Waveform Generators
The new DG1000Z Series waveform generators are powered by Rigol’s SiFi technology and are suitable for low-frequency testing applications requiring high signal fidelity, a low noise floor, and long arbitrary waveform length.
The 2-channel DG1000Z series features a memory depth of 8 Mpoints (16 Mpoints optional) to facilitate deeper, more intricate arbitrary waveforms and includes up to 160 built-in waveforms for quick and easy access to predefined signals. These generators provide ±1-ppm frequency stability and -125-dBc/Hz phase noise for high signal fidelity and low-noise, predictable signal generation.
The DG1000Z series delivers up to 200-MS/s sample rate and 14 bits of vertical resolution, allowing users to achieve fine resolution and signal detail while emulating small voltage changes on a large output range. Available in two models—the DG1032Z (30 MHz) and DG1062Z (60 MHz)—these generators offer a wide range of modulations including AM, FM, PM, ASK, FSK, PSK, and PWM.
“Rigol Technologies is very excited about adding the DG1000Z waveform generator to our broad portfolio of test and measurement products,” commented Robert Bluhm, vice president, North Americas. “With its advanced specifications, feature set, and uncompromised performance, we are confident that it will delight our customers. When combined with the DG1000Z price points of $680 (30 MHz) and $860 (60 MHz) it delivers unprecedented value and will help our customers lower their overall cost of test.” The DG1000Z an suitable for engineers, technicians and educators.
