Direct-reading attenuators

This vendor offers full waveguide band high-performance, direct-reading attenuators in the W-, E-, and V-bands. Model STA-60-10-D8 is an instrumentation-grade, high-precision and

high-attenuation range direct-reading, rotary vane attenuator for use in millimeter-wave test sets across the standard W-band frequency range of 75 to 110 GHz. The attenuator has a large-scale calibrated dial which indicates the attenuation value directly. The attenuator is suitable for use in waveguide systems where a broad direct reading of attenuation is required. The attenuator exhibits repeatability during frequent attenuation setting operations. The attenuator exhibits 1.2-dB typical insertion loss and up to maximum 70-dB attenuation. The accuracy of the attenuator is 0.1 dB or 1% of the reading up to 60 dB, and “for reference only” above 70 dB. Sage Millimeter

Connector for high-power applications

The new ML-CUX MULTILAM is specifically built for high-power contact applications, including power transmission and distribution, that require a high operating range and high power density.  It is suitable for replacing multiple rows of competing contact elements with a single row of ML-CUX. The special construction allows a simple use of MULTILAM in a straight, cost-effective groove, even with larger contact diameters. It can be used in switchgears, transformers, circuit breakers, isolator switches, and feedthroughs. The ML-CUX consists of a stainless-steel spring carrier band with louvers attached with rivets. The carrier band is optimized for mechanical properties, while the louver’s design is chosen for its electrical properties. It is able to withstand extreme current peaks and has a short-circuit current-carrying capacity up to 4.4 kA/cm. The higher current-carrying capacity allows for a compact design, so the connectors can be implemented more easily even in smaller systems. Staubli

Millimeter-wave waveguide PIN diode switches

This new line of E- and W-band PIN diode waveguide switches includes  single-pole single-throw (SPST) and single-pole double-throw (SPDT) millimeter-wave waveguide switches that offer an ultra-broadband frequency range with fast switching

performance. They are suitable for telecommunications, test instrumentation, research and development programs, and radar front ends, in applications that involve general switching, receiver protection, pulse modulation, and antenna beam switching. Four new PIN-diode waveguide switches feature fully integrated WR10 and WR12 waveguide ports that support a UG387/U flange and cover E-band (60 to 90 GHz) and W-band (75 to 110 GHz) frequencies.  These designs utilize high-performance GaAs beam-lead diodes and low-loss Fin-line technology, resulting in 4 dB of typical insertion loss and 25 dB of isolation. Switching speed is < 300 ns. Fully integrated TTL driver circuitry with an SMA connector control port provides ease of use. All of these waveguide PIN- diode switch models require a dual voltage bias of ±5 VDC and have a maximum-rated CW input power level of 0.5 dBm. Rugged MIL-grade compact package configurations integrate both switch and control packaging and offer maximum performance and reliability over a full temperature range of -55°C to +85°C. Testing dial and digital indicator test

The OPTIMAR 100, for testing dial and digital indicators, test indicators, and dial comparators, has expanded to include image processing for the automated testing of measuring equipment. A new upgrade kit makes working with the measuring instrument safer and faster: a camera automatically records the indicated values of the test indicators and forwards them to software for processing. The automated procedure saves time and replaces reading by the operator. The hardware and software add-on package provides a cost-efficient way to equip existing measuring stations with the OPTIMAR 100 for automated testing. The measuring system, including image processing, is also available as a complete package under the name “Precimar OPTIMAR 100 BV.” Mahr Inc.

In-circuit debugger

The MPLAB PICkit 4 In-Circuit Debugger does in-circuit programming and debugging. The tool is meant to replace the PICkit 3 programmer by offering five times faster programming, a wider voltage range (1.2 to 5 V), improved USB connectivity, and more debugging interface options. In addition to supporting The vendor’s PIC microcontrollers (MCUs) and dsPIC digital signal controllers (DSCs), the tool also supports debugging and programming for the CEC1702 family of hardware cryptography-enabled devices. This programming and debugging solution is suitable for those designing in the 8-bit space, but it is also suited for 16- and 32-bit development due, in part, to its 300-MHz ATSAME70Q21B microcontroller on board. The PICkit 4 development tool enables debugging and programing using the graphical user interface of MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The tool connects to the design engineer’s computer using a USB 2.0 interface and can be connected to the target via an 8-pin single inline header that supports interfaces such as 4-wire JTAG and serial wire debug with streaming data gateway. It is also backward compatible for demo boards, headers, and target systems using 2-wire JTAG and In-Circuit Serial Programming (ICSP) compatibility. The new interfaces make this tool compatible with CEC1702 hardware cryptography-enabled devices. This low-power32-bit MCU offers easy-to-use encryption, authentication, and private and public key capabilities. Microchip Technology Inc.

FPC entry-level spectrum analyzer

The compact FPC1500 combines a spectrum analyzer, a 1-port vector network analyzer, and a CW signal generator. The FPC1500 includes a 1-port vector network analyzer with internal VSWR bridge, an independent CW signal generator, and a tracking generator. The base model of the R&S FPC1500 has a frequency range of 5 kHz to 1 GHz. Keycode options unlock higher frequency ranges up to 3 GHz or enable other measurement application

features when required. For applications requiring a high sensitivity to characterize extremely weak signals, the R&S FPC1500 offers a low noise floor level of -150 dBm (typ.), which can be further extended to -165 dBm (typ.). Its high maximum input power allows users to measure RF signals up to +30 dBm. The FPC1500 can perform reflection measurements, allowing users to measure impedance on antennas or RF circuits with the Smith chart display or use distance-to-fault measurements to detect faulty locations on a long RF cable. The tracking generator integrated into the FPC1500 enables scalar transmission measurements on passive and active RF components that do not produce their own RF signal. The FPC1500 can also act as an independent continuous-wave (CW) signal generator. Sample applications include using the CW signal source as a LO signal for mixer measurements or as an input signal for amplifier gain measurements.Rohde & Schwarz
