Partnership to Optimize Mobile-Device Testing for Energy Labeling Regulation

Jan. 31, 2024
Contributing to smart-energy initiatives, SmartViser's solutions combined with Anritsu T&M solutions will help advance carbon neutrality.

The growth in advanced electronic products has placed pressure on the design community to not only create products that are highly functional and connected, but also very energy efficient. Addressing this need, SmartViser and Anritsu joined forces to advance mobile-device testing for energy labeling regulation. The partnership leverages SmartViser's experience in test automation and Anritsu's testing solutions to effective and innovative testing solutions for the growing mobile ecosystem.

This collaboration for smartphone and tablet testing in accordance with requirements such as the EU Energy Labelling Directive, which will become mandatory in June 2025, will provide manufacturers and service providers with tools to streamline testing processes and accelerate time-to-market. The solutions will also address other regulatory and compliance requirements for energy-efficiency documentation in other demanding markets.

According to Jonathan Borrill, CTO for Anritsu T&M, "Combining SmartViser's innovative solutions with Anritsu communications technology will bring revolutionary and a major step towards achieving carbon neutrality."

Gilles Ricordel, CEO of SmartViser, added, "We are thrilled to collaborate with Anritsu, a renowned name in the testing and measurement industry. This partnership represents a significant leap forward in our mission to provide cutting-edge testing solutions for the rapidly evolving mobile landscape. By combining our automation expertise with Anritsu's industry-leading technology, we are empowering our customers to deliver products and services in the market that exceed consumer expectations."

SmartViser was selected by the EU to create the first pilot application to test smartphones' and tablets' energy class and battery consumption. A full demo of the setup will be at the Anritsu Stand during the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona.
