The MEMS Industry Group (MIG) and the MicroElectronics Packaging and Test Engineering Council (MEPTEC) have formed a strategic alliance to collaborate on marketing programs. Their goal is to eliminate barriers to the greater commercial use of micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and MEMS-enabled technology. Through their alliance, MIG and MEPTEC will support each other’s events. For example, MIG co-sponsored the MEPTEC Substrates Symposium on Nov. 8 in San Jose. Next Spring, MIG will conduct a packaging survey of its members at its annual members-only technical event, METRIC, and then present the results at MEPTEC’s Sixth Annual MEMS Symposium on May 22. "During the coming year, we will work together to address the packaging issues that can further enhance the adoption and commercialization of MEMS," Karen Lightman, managing director of the MEMS Industry Group, said in a statement.
