Designed for mobile WiMax terminals operating at frequencies up to 2.7 GHz, the ADL5570 power amplifier promises high levels of linearity, output power, and efficiency to ensure seamless connectivity and reduce battery drain. The device specifies a power-added efficiency in excess of 20% and an output 1-dB compression point (P1dB) of 31 dBm, allowing it to operate in the linear region at output-power levels up to 26 dBm at a 3.5V supply and 2.35 GHz, while maintaining an EVM of less than 3%. Overall gain is 29 dB. Operating with a single 3.2V to 5.5V supply, the device consumes 250 mARMS. A low-power mode is also available for operation at levels less than 10 dBm with operating and quiescent currents of 100 mA and 70 mA, respectively. A standby mode reduces the quiescent current to 10 mA. The ADL5570 is sampling now with volume production scheduled for May. Available in a 16-pin, 4 mm x 4 mm LFCSP, price is $3 each/10,000.
