Improved bit-error rate performance is said to result from use of the Model 5915 low-pass filter. Certain digital telecomm systems, such as SONET, SDH and Fibre Channel, have system specs that mandate use of low-pass filters with -3 dB cutoff frequencies of 0.75/T and 3.0/T where 1/T is the bit rate. Classical LC filters do their job by means of reflection, which can cause worsened bit-error rates and eye-pattern closures as a result of multiple reflections. Model 5915 filters by absorption to provide excellent impedance matches both within and above the filter passband. It's available in any desired -3dB frequency from 35 MHz to 15 GHz.
