With a frequency range of 100 MHz to 500 MHz, the RF2516 IC is well-suited for applications in both the North American and European VHF/UHF bands, including wireless data transmitters, 345- and 433-MHz ISM band systems, automotive keyless entry systems and wireless security systems. The chip provides a phase-locked frequency source for use in local oscillator or transmitter applications. The integrated VCO, phase-locked loop and reference oscillator requires only an external crystal to provide a complete phase-locked oscillator. Operating from a 2.0V to 3.6V power supply, the device features low current and power-down capability, as well as an automatic lock detect feature that disables the transmitter output when the PLL is out-of-lock.
