The MAX3950 is designed to convert 10-Gbps serial data to 16-bit-wide, 622-Mbps parallel data. Its ability to handle FEC data rates make the MAX3950 ideal for a variety of applications in SDH/SONET and DWDM transmission systems. The MAX3950 chip implements a shift-register-based demultiplexer to convert 9.953 Gbps CML serial clock and data inputs to 16-bit-wide, 622.08 Mbps LVDS parallel clock and data outputs compatible with the OIF parallel interface standard. The demultiplexer requires only 270 mA from a single 3.3V supply and dissipates just 890 mW. The internally terminated 50 ohm CML inputs are capable of receiving serial rates up to 10.7 Gbps. The MAX3950 is available in a 68-lead QFN package measuring just 10 x 10 mm and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The MAX3950 is priced from $120 each/1,000 factory direct. Evaluation kits are available.
