Modem Family Spawns Third Gen Devices

Enlarging the ISOmodem family of embedded modems, the Si2457, Si2434, Si2415 and Si2404 integrate the company’s third-generation silicon direct access arrangement (DAA) technology. The technology is said to reduce the number of external components required to build the modems, thereby yielding the industry's smallest and lowest power hardware modems. The devices operate at all modem rates from 2.4 to 56 kb/s and also integrate a 27-MHz clock input and phase-locked loop (PLL) to eliminate the crystal in set-top boxes and digital video applications. The Si2457, Si2434, Si2415 and Si2404 support V.90, V.34, V.32bis and V.22bis, respectively, over the PSTN in both synchronous and asynchronous formats. Other features include V.42 and MNP2-4 error correction, V.42bis and MNP5 data compression, a serial or parallel interface, line-in-use and parallel phone detection, fast connect modes, and caller ID.
