Microchip’s PIC32 Bluetooth Starter Kit targets low-cost consumer applications, such as Bluetooth thermostats and wireless gaming controllers, as well as medical/industrial apps like blood glucose meters, and Bluetooth serial adapters. The kit features a PIC32 microcontroller (MCU), HCI-based Bluetooth radio, Cree high-output multicolor LED, three single-color LEDs, analog three-axis accelerometer, analog temperature sensor, and five pushbuttons for user-defined inputs. A PICkit On Board (PKOB) eliminates the need for an external debugger/programmer, USB connectivity, and GPIOs to accelerate development of Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP), USB, and general-purpose applications. A plug-in interface for an audio codec daughtercard, set to release at a later stage to support Bluetooth audio, includes an 83-DMIPS PIC32MX270F256D MCU with 256 kbytes of flash and 64 kbytes of RAM (along with USB, I2S/SPI, mTouch capacitive touch sensing, and 8-bit parallel master port).
