Want to know when your baby’s diaper needs to be changed? There’s an app for that.
Verily, a Google Life Sciences sister company, in partnership with Proctor & Gamble, has created the Lumi by Pampers Connected Baby System, which is projected to be released in the U.S. sometime this fall.
This pricey watershed product employs a baby monitor and activity sensor to track, in real-time, wet diapers and sleep patterns. The video monitor is made by Logitech, enabling parents to watch their baby through the app from anywhere, according to a video product release by the Pampers company.
Data from the app, delivered in daily and weekly forms, can monitor feeding, sleeping, and diaper changing routines, according to the company.
According to the Financial Times, Pampers—Proctor & Gamble’s biggest brand—pulled in net sales of $8 billion in 2018, effectively controlling more than one-fourth of the global market for baby care products.
In a report by CNN, a Pampers company spokesperson said that the Lumi app account information will include a baby’s name, sex, date of birth, and a 24-hour video archive.
