FreeWave Technologies’ WavePoint wireless M2M communications architecture offers high-speed connectivity and military-grade security to support high-bandwidth applications within the government and defense sectors. The WavePoint family consists of the multichannel WavePoint 10e platform and several single-channel WavePoint 20e modules (to be released throughout the remainder of 2014). Specifically, the single platform provides Wi-Fi connectivity and optional 3G backhaul. It offers video surveillance, voice, and last-mile infrastructure with point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, fixed, and mobile mesh architectures. The rugged platform, which includes a mix of Ethernet and serial data ports, offers high data rates “over the air” to deliver secure communications employing security protocols based on the Advanced Encryption Standard, AES. OFDM technology for high-speed scalable wireless communications facilitates real-time data collection at up to 200 Mbits/s with low latency. The wireless broadband modules cover the 900-MHz, 2.4-GHz, and 5-GHz bands (ISM and U-NII). Applications include command and control of unmanned systems, nuclear/biological/chemical remote sensing, dismounted soldier and vehicle tracking, remote target acquisition, and others.
